About Me

Who is Cook?

My name is Chandler Cook and I am the founder of Lazy River Music! Most people just call me Cook.  I am a 26 year old North Atlanta native and I produce and write music.  I was influenced by music at an early age listening to country, hip hop, and alt rock. In high school, I began writing and recording my own rap mixtapes on Garageband.  I created several songs rapping over Youtube beats and underground hip hop instrumentals. After years of writing lyrics, I developed a desire to produce music, but more specifically make hip hop beats for my own projects.  During my freshman year at Clemson, I bought my first drum pad (Akai MPD 226) and a cheap, old Victrola record player from another student in my dorm.  I used the equipment to chop record samples up, record my own vocals, and create my very own full length album.  I learned how to record and edit vocals with DAWs (digital audio workstations) and about drum sequencing and sound design.  I practiced each day after my engineering classes and began connecting with more folks involved in open mics and gigs around downtown.  I graduated from Clemson in 2017 with a bachelors degree in Materials Science and Engineering and an unofficial minor in beatmaking.

From 2017 to 2021, I engineered and project managed for a lighting company called Hemma Lighting Solutions and was blessed with the opportunity to travel the country & to learn how to operate a business.  I picked up piano lessons in 2019 and I learned how to read and write sheet music.  I now reside in Dunwoody, GA where I operate Lazy River Music fulltime!

What exactly is Lazy River?

We are a multi-media production company with a passion for creating music.

Lazy River began in 2017 as a weekly meetup between several young, independent music artists in Atlanta, GA. Our group of creatives began referring to the regular rendezvous as ‘Lazy River,’ in reference to our proximity to the Chattahoochee River.  We would create beats, design new sounds, and record track ideas together.  Community is the cornerstone of Lazy River Music and my goal is to provide a space for people to make music and a resource for people to learn and develop their own skills.  From the samples we use to the live shows we organize, Lazy River is created by and for the people. Get in touch with me if you want to work together on a project or learn how to track your own music! I host weekly battles between producers to sharpen our skills & learn new techniques from each other.  When we bring together collaborations, I make sure to provide clear information on royalties, splits and music rights.  If you feel like you wish you knew more about making music or , dont hesitate to get in touch!

I currently work with several musicians including Pack2sour, Saharra, Ehloh, Julio Vext, yatlife, Jack Watts, Spaghetti Western, Vinny Fro, The Calm, musicbyelenai, Fabe Luciano, No days Off Entertainment, and The Fat Mastering to name a few!
